40 Years of Nausicaä — A Timeless Classic
Hayao Miyazaki’s post-apocalyptic tale of a princess struggling to maintain peace in a war-torn future was the director’s second feature — and a first in many ways. It was a major box office success. It was based on a story of his owncreation. And the team who helped bring Nausicaä to life
would go on to become Miyazaki’s own colleagues. In celebration of its 40th anniversary, come learn about the stories behind this legendary masterpiece and why it was such an important cornerstone in Miyazaki’s career. No glider or breathing mask necessary. (Well maybe.)
You may have seen them walking around convention centers: these odd cosplayers wearing huge casted anime masks. Why would they wear one instead of practicing makeup? Well, I hope to answer this. Join me as I guide you through the history of those anime masks, why cosplayers use them, how one is made & acquired, & most importantly, what makes them so beautiful.

Charades/ Pictionary Come test your gamesmanship by presenting an anime or manga title pulled from a jar. You as the leader of a 3-person team can decide to play it as a charade or by drawing pictures of its words. Door prize tickets will be awarded to successful players and can be redeemed afterwards in the Lobby !

Vtuber Aesthetics Do you want to know what makes vtuber designs iconic? Why are some vtubers easily recognizable and have great success while others fall by the wayside? This in-depth analysis of vtuber designs from Hololive and Ninisanji will help better understand why they are how they are, how they have successful debuts, and some key things to look out for when designing your own vtuber.

Early Works of Miyazaki For over 40 years, Hayao Miyasaki has enchanted millions of viewers around the world with masterpieces such as Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke and much more besides, from Studio Ghibli. But long before becoming Japanese animation’s most beloved director, he has worked on numerous other projects at various Japanese studios. This panel explores his output, including 10 movies (some released worldwide, others not so) and 2 television series (never released in America). It’s a compelling chapter of the Walt Disney of Japan that you won’t want to miss.
Masquerade Magic If you've attended an anime convention before, you've no doubt experienced a cosplay masquerade. If you've ever wondered how they work, or more importantly, how to participate, this panel is for you! We will start by going over the boring basics like how to register and what happens backstage, and then we will discuss how to decide on a skit idea from script to costumes, options for pre-recording your audio, reviewing some of the things the judges will be looking for, and most importantly - how to entertain the audience. To top it all off, we'll play a few videos of some of the most well-received skits over the past few years

Cosplay Pre-Judging SessionWhen you register in the Lobby, beside a line-up number, you can be given a time when your cosplay will be viewed & critiqued by our judges.
Starting a Comic Discusses the creation process for creating your own series of comics. The discussion will include how to create chapters encompassing main and side plots and setting up for unexpected twists to be included within a story. The discussion will also include how to search for an artist for your story, if you are a sole writer, and the do’s and don’ts when creating your own comic. The completion of this panel will give the participants a clear path of the comic creation process while leaving them with a free comic book print and a start of a design of their own original character.”
LabyrinthWalk over to the 4-H Clover Labyrinth located in the north-east corner of the 4-H Center near the railroad tracks. This classical, or Cretan, labyrinth is a simple path that leads to the clover. Don’t worry! You won’t get lost since there’s only one way in and one way out. Enjoy your time spent being in the eternal Now, a sweet way to reach deep into the Earth and be grounded in this Reality
Anime Parliament Established in 2002, this is where you can step forward as a character or just a concerned fan & attempt to institute the changes you feel need to be made, like getting Link on all those charges of breaking & entering? Feel free to come forward, state your case, bring witnesses & make it happen. But remember, not everyone in the Parliament will agree with you. Be ready for a debate, because you’ll most certainly get it.
